Comunicaciones en el III CICSE.

En marzo de 2017 se desarrolló en la Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de la Universidad de Sevilla, el III Congreso Internacional y V Nacional de Construcción Sostenible y Soluciones Eco-Eficientes. En el CICSE se abordaron los campos de actuación implicados en el desarrollo de una sociedad más ecológica y sostenible desde todos los ámbitos de conocimiento.  Investigadores del proyecto MODIFICA participaron en la realización de las siguientes conferencias: URBAN HEAT ISLAND AND VULNERABLE POPULATION. The Urban Heat Island effect shows the differences among temperatures in urban areas and the surrounding rural ones. Previous studies have demonstrated that temperature differences could be up to 8oC during the hottest periods of summer in Madrid, and that it varies according to the urban structure. Associated to this ef- fect, the impact of temperature increase over dwelling indoor thermal comfort seems to double cooling energy demand. In Madrid, fuel poor households already suffering from inadequate indoor temperatures can face important overheating problems and, as a consequence, relevant health problems could become more frequent and stronger. This poses an increment in mortality rates in risk groups that should be evaluated. This research is aimed at establishing the geospatial con- nection between the urban heat island and the most vulnerable population living in the city of Madrid.   En diciembre de 2015 se desarrolló en la Escuela Técnica Superior de Edificación el III International Congress on Construction and Building Research (COINVEDI). En el congreso se abordó el estudio de nuevos materiales y sistemas constructivos, el uso de la tecnología en la construcción, cuestiones sobre energía y sostenibilidad y sobre seguridad y salud en la construcción. Investigadores del proyecto MODIFICA participaron en la realización de las siguientes conferencias: TOWARDS A DYNAMIC MODEL FOR THE URBAN HEAT ISLAND OF MADRID (Núñez Peiró, Miguel; Román López, Mª Emilia; Sánchez-Guevara Sánchez, Carmen ; Neila González, Fco. Javier) Despite great advances on building energy performance have been achieved during the last years, available climate data is derived from weather stations placed in the outskirts of the city. Hence, urban heat island effect is not considered in energy simulations, which implies an important lack of accuracy. Since 1980’s several international studies have been conducted on the urban heat island (UHI) phenomena, which modifies the atmospheric conditions of the urban centres due to urban agglomeration. In the particular case of Madrid, multiple maps haven been generated using different methodologies during the last two decades. These maps allow us to study the UHI phenomena from a wide perspective, offering however an static representation of it. Consequently a dynamic model for Madrid UHI is proposed, in order to evaluate it in a continuous way, and to be able to integrate it in building energy simulations.
